Who should Attend

This course is particularly suited to people working as executive level officers, finance managers and business unit managers who wish to progress into senior management positions

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to enter this course you will need to:

  • be mature age (20 years or over)
  • be currently working in, or contracted to the public sector with a minimum of three years full-time work experience
  • have access to the specific work practices and procedures required to demonstrate competency in the units undertaken

Units of Study

This course is delivered in two sections:

Section 1 Public Sector Senior Management

  • Manage public sector financial resources
  • Develop a business case
  • Formulate business strategies
  • Manage change
  • Manage risk
  • Review and improve business performance
  • Provide policy advice

Section 2 Leading in the Public Sector

  • Maintain and enhance confidence in public service
  • Apply government systems
  • Establish and maintain strategic networks
  • Manage compliance with legislation in the public sector
  • Manage diversity
  • Manage workplace safety
  • Manage policy implementation
  • Foster leadership and innovation

If you successfully complete Section 1 you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment in Public Sector Senior Management

If you successfully complete Section 2 you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment in Leading in the Public Sector

When you have successfully completed both Section 1 and 2 you will be awarded an Advanced Diploma of Government (Management)
