CIT Solutions – partnering with the public sector to build workforce skills
CIT Solutions has a long history of meeting public sector needs for skills uplift. Using highly experienced subject matter experts (SMEs), leading educators and working in close consultation with client departments and agencies, we develop and deliver tailored and bespoke training that addresses existing and emerging requirements in the APS and ACTPS.
In June 2024, we contracted with the Department of Health and Aged Care to design, develop and deliver non-accredited training on probity in the grants space. Due to restructuring in the Department, the Grants Branch experienced significant growth, bringing together staff with varied knowledge of grants administration and related probity requirements and diverse public sector experience. Recognising the importance of supporting and developing staff to ensure that they can execute their duties with confidence, the Department committed to providing tailored training, giving staff engaged in all aspects of grants administration a sound knowledge base.
The training was piloted over 2 training groups in October and December 2024 – one face-to-face and one delivered virtually. Feedback was sought from both groups and the offering was refined for the December 2024 session. Both sessions were observed by the Department’s advisory group, to confirm that the training is accurately targeted for staff needs.
Strong and ongoing consultations has ensured that, in a period of change in the Department, the training remains current and continues to meet the requirement to train a workforce that is diverse, distributed and has different skills and knowledge capabilities. The commitment of departmental experts has also contributed to training success, with SMEs participating at the closing of Day 2 training to lead a Q&A. This ensures that work specific issues are addressed in a way that reflects the reality of the workplace.
Training in 2025 commenced in March and will be ongoing throughout the year.
