About this course
CIT Solutions is an Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) endorsed IRAP training provider, facilitating the five-day IRAP New Starter Training Course.
Materials Required: Please bring a charged laptop.
Additional Information: IRAP New Starter Training Course is available for any interested person to complete.
This five-day course is made up of two components: ISM and IRAP Fundamentals.
To be eligible for the assessor exam, participants must meet IRAP policies and procedures. Please see the requirements via the IRAP https://www.cyber.gov.au/sites/default/files/2023-02/IRAP%20Policy%20and%20Procedures.pdf
On successful completion of the course and the exam, participants may apply to become endorsed as an IRAP assessor on the ACSC website https://www.cyber.gov.au
The IRAP New Starter Training Course assumes attendees have experience in ICT and security assessments. This includes experience in the following Australian Government ICT policy:
• Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM)
• Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
The course explains how to use both of these policies in conducting IRAP Assessments.

Exam Information:
After attending the IRAP New Starter Training Course, eligible attendees may sit the IRAP assessor exam on the last day of course and are required to obtain a pass mark of 80%. Exam results are valid for 12 months from the date of assessment.
Exam time: 120 minutes.
Type of questions : multiple choice.
Exam topics: open-book exam covers ISM and IRAP Fundamentals.
Pre-requisites required to become an IRAP Assessor:
• Australian citizenship.
• Minimum of five years of technical ICT experience with at least two years of information security experience securing systems using the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and supporting publications.
• Evidence of relevant ICT and auditing qualifications, one from Category A and one from Category B (Categories are available on the ASD website)
• Successfully complete an IRAP Training Course (ISM & IRAP Fundamentals courses) through an ASD approved IRAP training provider
• Successfully complete ASD examination.
IMPORANT: It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the ASD requirements to become an IRAP Assessor.
