Discover the Art of Cabinetmaking – Create Your Own Functional Furniture!

Unleash your creativity and craftsmanship in this hands-on cabinetmaking course, perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike! Learn essential techniques using a variety of hand and power tools as you construct a beautifully designed small furniture item to take home.

Guided by expert instruction, you'll master:

• Precision Joinery – Explore different joints for strength and aesthetics
• Tool Mastery – Tune, sharpen and handle chisels, saws, routers and more
• Expert Finishing – Perfect your piece with professional assembly and finishing techniques
• Jig Making – Enhance efficiency and accuracy in your woodworking projects

You'll work with a range of tools, including marking tools, chisels, dovetail saws, band saws, compound mitre saws, drill presses, cordless drills, inverted routers with machining jigs and more! Through hands-on demonstrations, tutorials and guided practice, you’ll combine hand tools with power tools and static machines to create a furniture piece that’s both structurally sound and visually stunning.

Materials Required: There will be an additional materials fee of $180 to be paid to the course tutor on the first night. This covers the purchase and preparation of quality exotic wood (eg Rosewood, Tasmanian Oak, Silky Oak, Black Heart Sassafras) required for your furniture project as well as finishing consumables such as abrasive paper and lacquer. This is a cash-only payment and correct change would be appreciated.

You will need to bring your own personal protection gear including goggles, dust mask and ear muffs. If you have your own tools eg chisels and plane, please bring to the class and the tutor will show you how to sharpen them and keep them in good working condition.
