Owner Builders Course

About this course

The ideal grounding for the prospective owner-builder, this course will outline the building process from the Development Application (DA) through to the Certificate of Occupancy. This course is for those BUILDING WITHIN THE ACT ONLY. **Please view Additional Information below before enrolling**

Materials Required: Course notes and a textbook will be provided at the first class.

Please bring your own lunch and refreshments for the sessions.

Additional Information: In the context of the ACT Government licensing requirements for owner-builders we will address owner-builder obligations and responsibilities and further discuss project management, sub-contracting, materials and budgeting. There will also be the opportunity to workshop individual building plans.

This course constitutes part of the application process for an Owner-Builder's Licence. On successful completion of the course you will be sent a Certificate of Attendance. This certificate should be taken to Access Canberra where you can then apply for an Owner-Builder’s Licence. A fee will be levied for this application. THIS COURSE IS FOR THOSE BUILDING WITHIN THE ACT ONLY. If you are building in NSW you can find more information at the NSW Fair Trading website. Your local Council or State Authority will also be able to provide further information.
