About this course
Picasso was the first modern celebrity artist, unapologetic for his crass behaviour. In contrast, Matisse was a reserved man, shielding his life from the public view. The two artists mocked each other in their respective works, yet revered each other for their talents. Their rivalry and friendship brought out the best in each of them. Looking at the lives of these two great artists this course complements this Summer's exhibition at the NGA.
