About The Volunteer ESL Tutor Position
Our Centre for Modern Languages (CML) team is seeking ESL Volunteers to be part of the team for our future language projects. The core responsibilities involve meeting newly arrived migrants and refugees to help them learn English language skills, find links to the community and understand Australian values and culture.
Key accountabilities and duties
- Meet with the student and provide English language support, community information and a general understanding of Australian culture
- Prepare session materials which meet the student's needs
- Maintain regular contact with the CML team
- Report on session deliveries using the appropriate reporting template
Requirements
- Availability of at least 1 hour each week
- A desire to help and enable others to learn linguistic skills
- National Police Certificate (paid by CIT Solutions)
- Working With Vulnerable People (Volunteer) Card
- Access to a computer or phone TEAMS, Skype, Google meet, etc
- A positive attitude and a desire to assist migrants and refugees become a part of our community.
