APS employees working without close supervision who demonstrate a range of skills rather than a particular specialty.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to enter this course you will need to:

  • be mature age (20 years or over)
  • work for a government department or agency or private sector equivalent
  • have access to specific work practices and procedures required to demonstrate competency in the units of study being undertaken

Units of Study

 This course is delivered in two sections:

Section 1 Public Sector Electives

  • Develop internal and external networks
  • Develop and implement work unit plans
  • Compose complex workplace documents
  • Use resources to achieve work unit goals
  • Provide input to change processes
  • Gather and analyse information
  • Undertake career planning

Section 2 Working in the Public Sector

  • Uphold & support the values and principles of public service
  • Deliver and monitor service to clients
  • Value diversity
  • Use advanced workplace communication strategies
  • Apply government processes
  • Encourage compliance with legislation in the public sector
  • Support policy implementation
  • Contribute to workplace safety

When you have successfully completed both Section 1 and 2 you will be awarded a Certificate IV in Government
